Subject: Electrical problem IP: Logged
Message: I need some help. I have a 96 SLT Dakota 4x4 (by the way my first Dodge and I love it). When I start the truck the battery charge indicator only goes a little past minimum charge. When I turn on the head lights the dashboard light doesn't come on, the hazard light indicators on both sides stay on and the ignition key buzzer stays on until I turn the dimmer switch for the dashboard all the way off. It acts like the battery isn't taking a charge but I have no trouble starting my truck or using headlights, radio, and heater. Could it be a bad cell in the battery, the alternator, or faulty wiring in the dashboard? Any suggestions?

Message: I would go to an Advance auto Parts store if you have one near you, they check batteries and alternators for free. In your case I would get both of them checked. Hopefully one of them is bad and your problem would be fixed relatively quickly and relatively painlessly.
