Subject: Help Tranny problem IP: Logged
Message: I was wondering if anybody could give me some suggestions to check out on my tranny. My tranny doesn't seem to want to shift in O/D on the highway. It used to shift into overdrive at about 80 km/h. When it is in O/D and I let my foot off the gas, it imeadiately downshifts into a lower gear and you can feel the truck in reving too high. The overdrive button is not off, so I don't know what could be the problem. Could it be something that needs to be cleaned or sensor replaced? I had the filter and fluid change on tranny about about 65,000km. I know have 87,000 km on my 98 3.9 cc v6.

Message: is your engine light on. you can check the battery temperature sensor. if it is not working it could send the wrong reading to pcm. if its sending a cold signal it tells the alternator to put out more volts, but it if puts out to many is overcharges the pcm and causes the tranny not to shift into over drive. thats what happend to me. simple fix.....good luck

Message: The first thing to do would be to check the fluid level.

Message: i do not know if this will help but is the engine running at operating temp. I had a chevy once that the thermostat was failing (cold out side) and it would jump in and out of overdrive trying to warm the engine up.
just a thought.
