Subject: Gen 1/older dak's IP: Logged
Message: Hey guys I check here off and on for things I can do to get my dak up to par, in shape, beef'd up a little, etc... This club is awesome don't get me wrong but i'm not finding much for the "older" trucks. I have a 91 dak and notice that there are not many replies to my questions and I am starting to notice that for others with older trucks also. What I am wondering is am I looking in the wrong place? Is this club mainly for newer dak's or is there a person/place/reference that i can be directed to for ideas and info?
Thanks,
Tek

Message: I guess i'm looking for some things I can do to toon up my truck a bit maybe some mods. This truck is going to be mainly for winter use in MI but it won't go unused in the summer. Some things I can do to keep running good or run better i guess. One mod specifically I keep trying to figure out is the throttle body mod and if that will work on this truck or not. Any suggestions/help? Thanks for reply guys!

Message: I have been restoring my 87 3.9l short bed 4x4 since I wrecked about 2 years ago (I bought a 97 x-cab to take its place as the daily driver). On the pre-mag engines you can actually do quite a bit I like the Mopar Book V6 ENGINES you should check it out the tell how to make a 14 second pre-mag dak with a v6. You could always get the heads ported thats about $200 where I live and that helped out pretty well. Replace the cat with a high flow but don't get a outragous muffler because these engines just don't flow enough to handle them. Edelbrock makes headers the come in black and cost anywhere from $150-270 they are nice I think. Mopar performance sells 3 cams for the engine. Their are other things you just have too look in some ways the older daks have stuff you can't get as cheap for the new ones.

Message: Hey man. Nice to hear of another GenI er here. I have done a few things to my 1990. I like the edelbrock headers. They work well, with other mods IE intake/exhaust. Get rid of allthe smog crap. And CAT conv. Cut it out. Then plug the smog lines on the edel. headers and your good to go. But dont do headers and a body lift. Complications arise that I had to deal with.
Intake- use 3in PVC and a K&N cone filter. Works wonders. Free exhaust. I went with flowmaster w/ dual outs. I also have a Jacobs ignition. 8.5mm Jacobs wires. Coil, etc. Get Autolite 3923 spark plugs gapped to .045-.055. Jet akes a Chip Stage2 that I have heard runs well. Donno about the TB mod. But I am looken into that. But That should get your V6 tuned up a bit. Mine runs pretty well.

Hope this helped.

Message: do you guys have any pics or how-to's of things you have done? I don't know that I'll do all that much. I'm not looking to dumb a ton of money into the truck (that goes into the car). But some of the stuff I could do like the intake and exhaust. I was trying to think of way to do an intake on the gen I but wasn't sure how to go about it. I'm a visual person so if you have pics or other references I might have a better idea of what I can do.
Thanks
