Subject: exhaust question IP: Logged
Message: i currently have a 40 series on my 2001 v6. i cut the pipes right after the muffler which made my little v6 much deeper and louder. the problem is that its really loud inside, but its worth it. my question is would installing a turndown pipe affect the sound at all? i was thinking that it might not be so loud inside if the exhaust was pointed down instead of going straight out of the pipe.

Message: A turndown is still gonna make it loud, because it will echo off the ground and resonate through the body. There is not much to do about the interior noise unless you add a tailpipe, or get a Deltaflow Flowmaster.

Message: ok, but do u think a turndown might make it slightly less loud since the ground might absorb some of the noise?

Message: Yeah, probably it will be quieter at crusing speeds, but i think at idle it will be about the same. Try it, and if you dont like it take it off.
