Subject: New headers.....no diff. in perf.?? IP: Logged
Message: I just put a pair of headers on my 99 3.9 dakota and i don't really notice any difference in power. I know you need to get a better exhaust and intake system to get the full effect from headers but i figured i would notice at least a little bit of boost in performance with out all that stuff(will be buying that stuff soon). Please tell me i didn't make a 360 dollar mistake...........

Message: well you made a $300 mistake if your not going to seriously mod your dak, but if you are then thier great. the reason i bought them is because my 100 shot is going on soon and im gonna need em, but i didnt notice any performance gains either. i bet new stock headers are fairly free flowing, that might be why you didnt notice any gains. im not loosin sleep over it

Message: I didn't really notice a great gain. I spent about $360 for my headers also but power is suppose to increase in the mid to upper rpm range. So you might notice it at the upper end. With all my mods, I think I achieved what I wanted to do. She feels more like a small V8 (with no mods) now. 5.2L performance with V6 milage. Cosmetically, the headers make the engine bay look alot cleaner. Pretty nice!!!!!

Message: If a lot of air can't come in fast (intake) and can't come out fast (exhaust), then the headers are not being used to their full potential because they are in the middle of the airflow system. Try getting a bigger throttle body for more airflow along with the intake and exhaust.
