Message: I have a 94 Dodge Dakota V6 that had a failing transmission and transfer case. Looking into the problem, I found it almost impossible to come across a reasonable pair of the two in a parts yard and facing a 1500 dollar repair bill I decided the truck wasnt worth that much and opted to go the only route I had and use a 96 V6 Dakota Sport as a parts donor. (I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. . . 4 months later that is)
SO... I took everything from the donor vehicle, everything - Transmission, flywheel, transfer case, wiring harness, driveshafts, etc... Ok. So the transmission goes in great... the transfer case, a little different story - the output shaft needed to be swapped from the 94 T-case - easy enough. What this did (changing the tranny and t-case) was shorten the distance from the 4WD output to the front diff and lengthened the distance from the rear diff to the t-case. Great, go lengthen my driveshaft... but I'm ok with that. The real nightmare has been splicing the wiring harness to accomodate sensors that were slightly changed between the 2 year difference in the trucks and the "Sport" model... I have a sensor (wires for a sensor, rather) that are located in the front right corner of the engine compartment. There are two wires, pink and black - just like the starter wires but definitely smaller guage (maybe 16 gauge) Now on the 94 these wires plugged directly into a sensor that I have no idea where it goes??? It looks to be some sort of magnetic pickup with these two (pink & black) wires coming off of it. The new (96 sport) harness has the same pink and black wires but also has a set of them with a matching plug coming from the black fuse box next to the battery. They match and connect fine but it looks strange and out of place, almost as if the two coming from the fuse box aren't supposed to be used at all (maybe and extra from Dodge?? for engine diagnostics??) I still have the sensor from the 94 harness which I think needs spliced in, which I'm perfectly capable of, but I dont ave a clue where the sensor plugs in. I've been around this engine for months and am finally ready to call it quits and burn the damn thing. If theres a Dodge wiring expert out there who could help will you pleasse email me directly (I'll check this thread as well) - mikenocero@gmail,com - I'm not looking for free help here, I know it's odd to say the least but I will pay someone to help me out with this but it may take several emails and possibly calls, I doubt it can be resolved with a few words back and forth over this thread... The only other issue seems to be that the 02 sensor is also wired differently in the 96 Sport model, HELP! ..if you dare. Thanks in advance everyone, Mike

Message: In all that I forgot to say - I think this pink and black wired sensor has something to do with the ignition to the starter (??) Nothing happens when I turn the key, and the only electrical working right now are the hazzard lights - they work fine. I have replaced any blown fuses and now the only issue seems to be getting the rest of the electrical system working. Thanks in advance if you can get back to me with some information... Oh yeah, the sensor in question is female in design (round as well) and has one notch or "cutout" so the sensor can only be installed one way and it has two "ears" to hold it in place - again, with a "magnetic" looking pickup inside of it, looks to be about an inch deep and the wires are approximately 3 feet long so it can only go so far, yet i'm still lost as to where it goes. I think it's the source of my ignition prolem but I'm not sure... Can anyone out there point me in the right direction?? Thanks again, Mike
