Subject: Steering knuckle/lower Ball Joint IP: Logged
Message: 97 V6 3.9L
I had to replace my passenger side steering knuckle and both the upper and lower ball joints. The problem is we cant get the lower ball joint to sit properly on the steering knuckle. The upper sat properly without effort. Can anyone tell/steer me in the right direction on how to get that lower ball joint to sit all the way in the knuckle. I greatly appreciate any help.

Message: I suspect it's got to be wrong or defective. Those things are so simple. There is only one way they fit so. Maybe the taper on the stud is wrong? Or you got the wrong replacement steering knuckle?

Message: All parts match and are the correct ones. We tried to pound the junk ball joint into the junk steering knuckle and that didnt work either (just to compare).
On the replacement knuckle and lower BJ it would go down to the threads but not onto the base/boot of the BJ. We spent about 4 hours trying everything we could think of....
