Message: My 2000 Dodge Dakota is the first truck I have owned and it has been great until now, it's a Sport 2wd 3.9L v6 5 speed. They clutch has been temperamental for a while now and even though the friend I lent it too knows the little quarks he is still had on it. This last time I got it back from him it was having a major issue. When I shift I have to be real easy on the gas pedal otherwise the RPMs shoot way up and it takes forever for the speed of the truck to catch up to the high RPMs. Also when going up hills I have to down shift further than I use to to make it up them, at a snail pace no less. Does anyone have an idea of what the problem could be? I am stationed over sea in Germany so any and all help is appreciated.

Message: First thing to do is check for any codes. The pcm
can still have 1 or more stored codes even if the
light isn't on. From there will be a list of things
to check.

Message: To ad, Check your clutch could also be slipping
sometimes it might give off a smell like hot or
burning brake pads.
