Subject: 1990 dakota engine swap IP: Logged
Message: I have a 1990 dakota with a 3.9L V-6 and automatice transmission. I am looking to rswap it for something newer with port fuel injection, for better fuel econmy and more power. I want to keep it a all dodge vehicle, what do I need to take into consideration? Are the 2000 and up engines a match up to the transmission, or will i need to replace that as well. Thanks for your help.

Message: I understand the wiring will be a pain, I plan on doing a complete rewire of the truck, pervious owner left a lot of questionable wiring. My main concern is the transmission housing and torque converter, if they will match up or if a new transmision will be nessacary as well?
