Subject: O2 sensor IP: Logged
Message: I have a 99 3.9L dak that tripped a CEL light a month or so ago. I had it scanned and found it was the downstream O2 sensor. I ordered a new sensor and just got around to replacing it this past weekend. CEL light is still on. I don't have scanner to clear the code. Is there any other way to clear the CEL light and code?
I read on one older post about disconnecting -ve battery terminal and holding key to 'start' for like 15-30 seconds...but I wasn't sure if that procedure would work on a 99.
Any help would be great.
Thanks,
Olindo.

Message: Thanks Larry. I assume this 'hard reset' resets the entire system. Any chance in this causing the truck to run crappy since it may be losing other learned characteristics...or does this reset just reset diagnostic trouble codes?
Truck runs like a dream right now (knock on wood!).
