Message: Most aftermarket ones don't have one at all; only the K&N does that I'm aware of. So I'd say: No.

Message: 360Intakez does as well. Haven't seen any performance gains/loss with or without it.

Message: I think the idea behind it is to keep the air thats going into the intake as cool as possible. But I dont have one on my K&N homebrew and dont think I will ever bother doing it. Dont worry about it. Youll be glad you made the intake!
