I just replaced the stock injectors with 19# ford fuel injectors that
had been remanufactured. i was getting between 18 and 19 mpg
with the stock ones, now i am getting around 16(driving conditions
have been the same over the same terrain). any idea why this
would be? its a '99 4x4 v6

Thanks jake

Good post useful! Yeah, you probably need to put a few hundred miles on it until the PCM adjusts for the new injectors.

Thanks. that answers my question. i def. notice a smoother idle
and accel. but the mpg def. dropped. i will give it more time and
see what happens i haven't even put 50 miles on them.

By all means, we'd like to hear how it turns out. Might I ask what you had to give for those injectors and where did you buy them?

I got them off of ebay for $70. thats about the best deal i have seen
on there for "buy it now". i saw some on the auction go for between
60-70 dollars. they are incredibly cheap for remanufactured ones.

Thanks! I need to start looking there when I have the funds. Maybe use my tax refund when I get it.

If your not getting any codes,
Check the plugs, wires, cap & rotor.

How old is the O2?
It could be getting lazy.

no codes at all.
thanks for the ideas i will check all those things.
as far as i know they are the original O2 sensors
I think i will start by putting in some new autolites see what
happens and if that doesn't work try new O2 sensors. i have a
feeling its the plugs though.

How is your tire alignment and inflation? Those two play a big part in the quest for better MPG.

I changed the spark plugs. the old ones looked fine, but i put in
3923's instead of the ngk's. I will give it a couple days to see if i
notice any difference. I have also noticed that when my dakota is
cold and i shift from 1st to 2nd,or 2nd to 3rd(shifting at 1800
rpms) its real sluggish and i get a knock or some sound, its
wierd. if i rev it higher b4 i shift its seems to not do it and when
its warmed up it doesn't do it. this still happened after i put the
new plugs in. maybe i messed something up when i swapped
the injectors. i don't think i did anything wrong though. i might
try new O2 sensors. any suggestions are much appreciated. and
thank you to all that have tried to help. i can always try putting
the old ones in but i don't want to yet.

any ideas? it seems like it has slowly gotten worse since i have put
the injectors in. it seems to idle rough when its cold and not run
that well. when its warmed up it doesn't run that bad but I am
getting around 3 MPGs less than b4 when i had the stock injectors
in. it just doesn't make since. i might just have to put the old ones
back in.
