Subject: Hurst & JET IP: Logged
Message: Hurst Shifter (PN- 530-390-0155) showed up yesterday evening! Since I had a final at 5pm, and was going to Spider man at 9:10, I didn't get to work on it until today. BTW, Spider Man ruled.
Picked up a pair of nylon-insert lock-nuts to keep the shifter stick tight, since I've heard horror stories of it working loose (not now, heh!). I was a little worried it wouldn't fit, since when I pulled the old module off I realized the Hurst unit is about half an inch taller. But it bolted right up, and the rubber boot fit over it. Definatly seems like a nicer quality shift! I'm heading to Wal Mart, so I'll get a good chance to run it through it's paces.
Oh, Jet II went on yesterday morning. Odd reaction to that, but the truck builds RPMs quite a bit faster now. Lost some low end (up to 1800 RPM) Power, but the entire power band is now a bit stronger and a bit larger (going from 1900 or so up to 4850 or so, with a big kick at 3k). Definatly liking it... although I don't know why the instructions said to pull the ECU off the firewall, I just unclipped the connector and stuck it on. 2 minutes of work.
Thanks Justin!

Message: Totally agree with ya on the Jet Stage-II. My old (original) Jet-2 had some decent poop from the bottom end towards the mid range...but I think they "updated" the V6 modules. The new one i'm using (yes...i'm using a Jet Stage-II right now) pulls the same way. :)

Message: Hey cool! I've got some of the same stuff on my truck as Bernd! I'm like... Bernd Junior... 0_o
Decided that I love the Hurst Shifter (except for having to re-learn how to shift!), much more solid throw. The gear noise from the tranny is a lot louder now, but with the windows down at 30mph you can't hear it anymore (unless your really winding the engine out).
Just got back from Wal Mart. Bought some food, and two Mountain bikes. Well, actually, my roommate bought one of the bikes. Piled everything in the back of the truck, and me and my 300lb bud headed back home. When we headed out to go to Wal Mart, he was impressed (hadn't been in the truck since I did the IAT relocation) that I managed to get a twin squawk going into second (darned wheel hop).
I can't wait to get used to the Hurst! Problem though, since I plan on riding my bike to school quite a bit now... at least until the rains come. (Darned set-your-clock-by-4pm-rain storms)
Hmm...
Wait a minute, now I have a bike... so I won't have to beg for a ride to school while my truck is getting an exhaust! YAY! Bernd, I'm going to order that Catyletic convertor we talked about, still got them in stock? (#94016 I think)

Ok, you drive over here and I'll race ya. After I get used to this shifter, I keep missing 4th. It's not in the same place! Everything moved an inch to the left... 0.o

Message: I put some dynamat on the shifter (under the boot) that quieted the noise down quite a bit. Other then that i love the shifter it will feel even better if you put a T-handle knob on it.

Message: You mean sound deadener? Nah, I kinda like the slight whine. Question though, did your kit come with rubber boots to install between the shifter arm and the shifter body? I considered getting a T-handle, got any pictures of yours installed? I don't really need anything fancy.
Heck, right now I'm still trying to get used to shifting. Going from one gear to the next feels like your getting stuck in Neutral. It cut out nearly half the original throw, I swear! Love it...

Message: It came with rubber "shims" to put between the chrome handle and the lower part but it had torn the first time it got loose. i bought a couple of nuts that fit on the other side of the bolts and tightened the hell out of them no problems since with loosening. And yes i do mean sound deadener you can still tell its not stock but it made it a little quieter. I used a B&M T-handle partly because i already had it on the stock shifter and because it has a red emblem that matches my truck. I think the Hurst T'handle emblem is black or blue i have no pcs but you can see the hurst t handle at www.intense99dak.com i think that is the site chuck has the hurst shifter as well as the t handle installed. the B&M on costs about $25 and the husts about $30 B&M also has a chrome one and they both make ones with a 12V button for NO2 or transbrake

Message: Ah, cool, I'll have to check out the T-handle. I think I saw one at Discount Auto when I was buying the RTV sealent... I'm too lazy to do the Dynomat ;0)
I did the same thing, purchased two nylon-insert lock nuts and tightened the -crap- out of it. Hopefully I can get it off again, if I need too! (Not that I plan on needing too!)
