Subject: 95 Dakota stalling IP: Logged
Message: I have a 95 Dakota 4x4 auto w/215000 miles. It stalls intermitently. I changed AIC,plugs, wires, cap and rotor and cleaned the throttle body. The fuel pump, pick up,crank and cam sensors and EGR are about a year old. The mechanic checked the wiring harness on the fender and all is good. He said when it stalls the computer shows a loss of RPM spark and fuel. Any suggestions?

Message: Wire splice
about a foot back from the power dist box under
hood there is a red wire going to 3 other wires
fuel ignition and comp power
When it stalls leave key on and check pin number
3 and 9 they should both have power
one has power all the time 1 on off with key
you need to undo the harnass to get to it cut out
old splice and solder all wires togather
This was a common problem on the obd1 gen 2 trucks
happened to my 95 with only 15,000 miles the first
year I had the truck and was fixed under warantee
It did it one day at the bank and they towed it
in and took care of it
I have done a lot of these at the shop but
chrysler did mine for me

Message: The mechanic did that and put contact grease on the computer contacts, but it still does it. Would the auto shut down relay be a possibility? Thanks.

Message: If its losing spark it will lose fuel that is what the ASD does. Check the codes to see if it throws a cam sensor or crank sensor code.

Message: It was a wiring harness underneath the truck (possibly speed sensor) that had fallen down and was getting caught on the driveshaft.
