Subject: fuel level sensor IP: Logged
Message: I changed my fuel pump a few weeks ago. Fuel level didn't work. So I repositioned the pump module so the fuel level arm wouldn't bump the side of the tank. Now the fuel level seems inaccurate. Once the level gets low, the gauge will change when I accelerate from a stop or come to a stop. The low fuel light will come on and then go off again, bounce between 1/4 and bone dry.
the fuel lines to the tank aren't long or flexible enough to position the fuel pump module in too many more positions.
Is there some mark or specific position the module should be in to ensure the level gauge works right?
Please Help before my son runs out of gas and I will have to rescue him.

Message: The first problem you have is that you decided to "repositioned the pump module so the fuel level arm wouldn't bump the side of the tank"
You should have installed the new fuel pump unit in the same way the old one came out ....... take a ride to a local junk yard and see if they have a tank there with the pumped still installed and check the correct position of the pump .........

Message: about 2 weeks ago I pulled a hemi truck out off
the ditch and my guage was at half after that
it stuck between empty and 1/4
LOL after filling the tank and hitting many
bib pot holes and bumps it poped back up
When you had it out be sure it moves freely and
they do need to be clocked right
I don't understand how you could not do it right
there is a notch it sits in probably sticking
like mine did
this is another reason I alway recomend a master
replacement it comes with new pump, filter and
guage & float
they do stick after time

Message: Hey Larry, Is there a brand of fuel pump that you would reccomend?
I've got 248,000 on mine now and sometimes at stop lights the guage needle drops to empty, then pops back where it was. Empty-full-empty-full. I think its time for me to change it.

Message: I replaced fuel pump in my old 95 with carter one from napa. Autozone and advance sold them as well but their had a pick up screen and not a filter. I opted for the one from napa as it had a filter .. just like the original from the factory.
