Subject: Electric fan swap IP: Logged
Message: I have a 95 intreped that I'm getting rid of. It had dual electric fans in it. that fan clutch on my 98 dak is shot. I was think of swaping the fan from the trep into my dak with an after market thermostat to control the fan. What do you guys think ??

Message: you'll have to wire one fan at least one of those to come on with the a/c comp.

Message: That's actually a very good idea, those fans will draw a lot of amps though, just be sure to use a relay, and some good heavy wire.
Good Luck

Message: Ok I've been thinking of how to hook the 2nd fan to the a/c and haven't been able to figure it out. I think I've gotta look at the wiring to get a better idea. In the mean time does anyone have any input on how to hook up the fan to the a/c???

Message: There is a plug that plugs into the a/c compressor, there should be a hot wire when the a/c is on, you could use a connector to that wire and any time you turn on the a/c the one fan would come on, that's the easiest way to hook it up that I can think of. Again just be sure to use a heavy wire.
Good Luck

Message: Hey thank. I was thinking that might be a way to hook up the fan but I was not sure. When I do install everything I'm gonna test it first to make sure it works before I make it final.

Message: whatever you do use the proper size wiring, fuses and relays. you can tap into the wire to power on the a/c clutch to activate a relay which would in turn send power to the fan. don't power that fan straight from that wire to the a/c or you'll be asking for trouble.

The A/C clutch comes on when the relays ground
is turned on
The comp controled vehicles switch grounds on off
not the positive side
flexolite direct coolant read adjustible around
$35 also switches ground on off and they work
great never had 1 fail

Message: I need to convert my old fan clutch too.
What is the best setup for our trucks?
I suppose the fan needs to be controlled by a thermostat and an override switch. I remember someone talking about a "washer bottle"? what's that for?
