Subject: Check Engine Light - HELP!!! IP: Logged
Message: I have an 05 Dakota V6, on Dec 5 my check engine light came on. It is still under warranty so I took it to the dealer. They said it was recording multiple misfires on the cylinders becauase the spark plugs were fouled and they replaced them. Less than 1 week later the light came on again. I checked got it to read out the error code P0306 which is Misfire Cylinder 6. I took the truck back to them. This time they did a compression check and found cylinder six was only 165 while the others were 180. They said they did a cylinder leak down test and found #6 propping to much. Performed Induction serice with MOPAR chamber cleaner and road tested. Funny thing is, day one they said that the valves were not seating properly. Now, on the final report it doesn't mention anything about the valves. They kept it for 4 days and I got it back today.
Now, less than a day the check engine light came on again! What could it be?? Thanks.

Message: I was afraid of that - unfortunately in order to qualify for a lemon in the state I bought it - MD - it must have less than 15,000 miles and be less than 15 months old. It is 24 months old and has 18,738 miles.

Message: I went to have my truck worked on and they said cylinder 5 was misfiring. I have changed the plugs, plug wires, dist cap, rotor button, o2 sensors and fuel injectors. Now, the mechanic looked at it again and said it's still misfiring and he doesn't know why. I took it to three places and no one can tell me anything. It is a 98 dodge dakota 3.9 v6. HELP

Message: In my case it looks like it is turning out to be a valve and head problem. My truck has been in surgery since Dec 17, they have replaced multiple valves, and one head. Since it is an '05 they are having problem finding parts since it is not everyday valves and heads fail on a 2 year old vehicle. I can only hope this is going to be the problem - won't know until late next week when I have a chance of getting it back.

Message: 165 vs 180 psi is OK. Variation of up to 10% is allowed, which would be 162 psi. So I would not worry about that. But plugs foul for a reason, so they are missing something in their diagnosis.
