Subject: Error 0455 IP: Logged
Message: So I have been having this error come up for a few weeks now. I
know that it is a major leak in the evaperator system. It started
when I put on a V8 TB. I have searched and read every thread on
here that I could find and pretty much everyone is saying to
tighten the gas cap. When I brought it to the dealer they smoke
tested it and said the same thing. I have since replaced the gas
cap and the light is still coming on. All of the lines look OK to
me and they said they found no other leaks when they smoke
tested it. I even went so far as to try putting a hose clamp on
the one line that I removed from the TB. Is there any other
reason that I would be getting this error?? The truck drives fine
but the light is really annoying.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
John

Message: evap sensor
but it happened after the tb swap did you use
the right body
92 to 95 need 92 to 95 V8 egr type
96 and up 96 up none egr
did you put the lines on right
new tb gasket I hope
Take an old spray bottle with water and spray
around all vack lines if it sucks it in the motor
will slow down
I always used starting fluid untill 1 day I
started my truck on fire LOL melted all the
vac lines behind throttle body dam the MSD
wires were in the direct flame and it did not
even touch them
It ended up not even being as leak but an arking
wire thet lit the fluid it sounded like a vac
leak everone has to f up once in a while
My nephew grabed my dogs buket of water and
put it out LOL
Just one of those days
A small pin hole or a cracked hose will do it
don't take much

Message: I am glad that the fire worked out alright in the end, must have
made for a crazy day. I will try the water bottle trick but it was
smoke tested at the dealer and they said all they found was the
gas cap. Since i replaced it im sure its not that.
I bought the TB off of Ebay and they said that it was a 96 so I
thought I would be fine. All of the plugs that I took off of my TB
fit right back on to the V8 one. I need to replace the TPS
because the RPMs jump around at highway speeds a little bit,
but I can not see this affecting the evaporative system.
Any other ideas would be very apprecited and ill check with the
water.
Thanks
