Subject: temp gauge fluctuations IP: Logged
Message: sup guys? in the last couple days my temp gauge has been fluctuating. it will be fine when I start drivin, but after I've been on the road for maybe 10 min. sometimes the temp gauge starts to climb. climbs all the way up to the redline sometimes, but then goes right back down to normal operating temp. and it fluctuates up and down anywhere inbetween. Is this just a bad sensor or what? I turned on my heat just to see how hot it was blowing and it wasnt super hot or nothin. I'm thinkin either the sensor or maybe the t-stat is acting up. usually they either stick open or stick closed but figured I'd run it past everyone and see if anyone else had this problem. thanks

Message: Boomer maybe waterpump going out, sticking thermostat collaspe hose, sensor not working properly out something haywire in your dash these dashes we have are circuit board on the backside and appear mechanical on the outside are known sometimes to get hot and short or fuse circuits together possible your case ?? have seen on a Dodge Neon I worked on. But before assuming the dash I would check everything else. Then I last would look at your dash. Theres many probale causes your having look into it before something that might cost you more than something you don't want spend on. Good Luck....

Message: well, it still fluctuates. I'm gonna go buy a thermostat today. I would get the 185 but it gets too cold here in michigan during the winter. rather not have to worry about my truck not warming up. hopefully its not the sensor because I'm sure that's not cheap.

Message: Boomer I live in MI and running 180 thermo and still get good heat in winter and if dont may sound silly put a piece of sheet metal or cardboard plexiglass in front of the radiator with a small enough hole for to pass but not to big and will get good heat unless your heater core plugged and be sure to remove it before summer otherwise might risk overheating and other issuses you don't need be sure to check the other items I was posting for some guidelines GOOD LUCK... Learn that trick from an old timer
