i had to replace both front calipers last week. in the process of driving to my friends garage the suckers froze up real good! the truck was driveable but it was definately under a load! i cooked the rotors big time, had to stop on the way and get new ones. old ones can probly be resurface but i figured might as well get new ones, they're not too terribly expensive!
Now the truck seems to run real crappy like something is still holding it back. i checked all wheels and they spin freely. I also put a new serpentine on. this might sound stupid but a new belt wouldn't put anykind of load on the engine until the belt wears in would it? is there even such a thing as break in for belts? my other question is could i have possibly fouled any plugs or anything else by driving the truck under such a load with the calipers stuck on?
the truck stops great now with the new calipers, nice and smooth but not running so hot anymore. i've done full tune up about one month ago and it was running great! only since this caliper job does it seems not normal.

did not check for any codes. there is no mil light coming on. anyone know how many cats are on this year truck. it's a 2002 3.9 5spd. i've already looked and i've got two little things on each side coming off the manifold that look like miniature cats. guess there is also one in the back.

this truck is still not running good! checked plugs today and they're fine, they have a nice brownish color to them. rear brakes were a little too tight probly from when i bled the brakes after the caliper replace, bled the whole system and flushed brake fluid. the truck just feel like i've got a load of cement blocks in the back. truck ran awesome before this caliper thing happened, i think i've messed something up by driving it so far with the calipers frozen. did a full tune up prior to replacing calipers as well. if my cat converters were plugged wouldn't i smell rotten eggs or get a code? i have niether. was going to replace the o2 sensors till i discovered i've got 4 of them!!! no codes at all but wanted to replace since i've got 72,000 miles on truck. gas mileage is about the same as everyone else 18-20 highway so i don't think i really NEED them beside coughing up $200 for some NGK's isn't possible with my budget right now. also i think i've got 2-3 cat converters as well. i have two things that look like miniature cat's on each side of the exhaust off both sides of the manifold at the firewall and an o2 sensor before and after each one of these, then there is also a round type of cylinder under the cab but before my muffler with no sensors at that one. what the HELL was daimler doing??? how is anyone supposed to afford this stuff? is there anything else that could be making this truck run like i'm towing some kind of trailer. all wheels are spinning freely, i checked today. is there someplace i could take it beside dealer and check to see if any converters are bad other than just assuming they're bad? i don't even think i can do this job myself. looks like you have to take exhaust off from both manifolds just to get the new cat's welded in, i highly doubt they can weld them into such a confined space. i don't even think i can get a wrench onto the top o2 sensors, now what?? this design has me really angry, daimler really screwed the do-it-yourselfer people.
