Message: No experience with NGK. I have a set of halo's, not noticed any improvements. But I'm working on getting some insite from our resident halo expert larry.
There's a few posts by larry stating the gains he has seen from them.
You can't gap the halo's.
Also what vehicle are you going to put them in? any modifications? If moded, he recommends 1 range colder.

Message: yes the halo's are pre-gapped and you can't change them. If you want a differnet gap, you have to get a differnet plug.
With mods larry recommends 1 colder. There's a few posts recenlty on this, check those out.

Message: With MSD get a -1 halo its gaped at .045 and runs
great with the MSD system
obd2 96 and up also get the -1
DR17YC-1 stock range
DR15YC-1 1 colder and 1 colder should be used
with MSD system
NGK
FR4 stock
FR5 1 colder
either plug
obd1 to 95 .035
obd2 96 and up .040
with MSD all .055
If your seeing no gains with the halo's I would
suspect first lazy o2 sensor not increasing the
fuel if your not getting a light tan color its
not right air/fuel ratio is off
The computer trys to maintain a 14.7 fuel ratio
and that ratio will turn the plugs tan under
excelleration the ratio will be richer but if the
o2 is not picking up on the flow and the less
oxigen from the increase combustion speed of the
halo you will see no gains in power or gas mileage
That holds true for any plug in these motors they
must have the tan color if not find out why
something is wrong
I have just over 500 miles on my computer learn
just over 300 with the halo's just got 23.86mpg
and my mid and top end are fantastic it has
never run better also excellent light throttle
response and low end torque
95 4x4 all the mods and bolt ons jet 2 chip
48mm F&B ram air

Message: I just installed my Halo's this morning and my 88 dakota 3.9, 5speed 4X4 runs great. its smoother running, and feels like it has a little more power. The only thing about it though since mine is only the second year of production it was only rated at 120 horse, and if I remember correctly 198lbs torque. I had Bosch plus 2's at first it ran really good, but after just about 500 miles it started running kind of rough. So I'll hold off on my judgement about the Halo's before I make any claims, good or bad.

Message: now i dont know much about halos and ngks are a pretty mild spark plug but i have heard good things about the bosch platinum irinium fusions ( the ones with the 4 grounds around the electrode) like they give you improved milage and more power

Message: I used the Bosch plus 2's and they were fine for about 500 miles then they went to trash. I am now using the Halo's and gained 2 miles per Gallon, and smoother running, and just a tad bit more power.
88 Dakota 4X4 3.9 reman engine with about 15,500 miles 21/2 inch cat back exh. Thrush turbo muffler
18-19 miles per gallon in town, 20-21 on highway (maybe more if I would slow down just a bit)

Message: I must say, and god forbid I go against what Larry says. I would stick with regular plug unless you have 6-8 bucks extra to spend per plug. NGK's are just as good and really better, cuz they are cheaper. no difference noted. 1000 miles on halo's. something an old Sergeant told me once, and beleive it or not relates to a lot in life. Message: I just ordered a set of NFK plugs for my 95 Dakota. They are sending the FR4GP plugs. Can anyone tell me what to gap these things at? From reading other posts it looks like it would be .039 but I am not sure. Also changing out the 02 sensor and would like info on how to reset the computer module after it is changed.

Message: To reset, just disconect baterry for a min.
If you cant get the sensor out heres a trick.
Wait for exhaust to cool.
then heat up around sensor (not on sensor) with torch. then stick a candle onto the threads.
when its hot enough itll suck the wax in.
wait a min to cool a little, then
give er.

Message: On your 95 gap .035
But the FR4GP is that not a plat tip if so yes
gap at .040
The platnium tip plugs in any aplication unless
factory equiped should be opend .005 over factory
settings
If they come gaped at .039 just check them all
and leave them right there
Thats great because they are lined parillal to
each other once you move this around it will
never be true again
1 thing though are those the Vpower
I am still hanging around 23.5 24mpg but now its
a lot warmer see if it goes up I just have a
problem with my right foot it runs so well so
pepy I just want to hit it all the time
