Subject: Front Drivers side Clunk IP: Logged
Message: well something you guys have most likely delt with before. Driving around today something in the front drivers side wheel starts clunking every once and awhile. My guess its either the brake caliper floating loose again(fixed once pulled spindle threads) or a ball joint. What ball joints in the front end are pron to dieing. Im guessing the top since they cant be greased. This thing is a 1997 with orginal ball joints 150,000KM. Not bad i guess if thats what it is.
But the truck was made in early 97 and i hear they are better the late 97 models thanks

Message: i just posted about a similar problem, except I replaced my ball joints, tie-rod ends, end links, and sway bar bushings. clunked once the other day and started to pull to the right. I think mine is a tierod end, but have yet to really check it out. I'd say your ball joints probably need to be done with all those miles but I would check the caliper for sure. my calipers float too, make annoying noises when I hit even the smallest bumps. If its a loud clunk its probably more then just a caliper.

Message: Oh you guys are going to love this my truck has over 150,000KM and its a v6 so not that heavy up front. but theres a clunk coming from the front drivers side wheel well. Pulled the whell off thinking it was the upper balljoints. Wrong both upper balljoints are as tight as they were when they went in and they are factory. Both lower grease-able are shot. And ive been greasing them 1/4 play up and down in them. Wierd that the good ones failed first.
