Subject: Rotton Eggs smell (CAT)? IP: Logged
Message: I get a rotton egg (sulfur) smell periodicly when I am driving. ALready had my O2 behind the cat replaced. Could my cat be on its way out? I have 67000K on my 3.9 98Dak. Its covered under warrenty by emmission laws. What does the dealer need to test or find with the Catalic converter before they will fix it? Since it happens periodicly will they jerk me arround until it actualy happens when they road test? Has anyone else had this problem?

Message: if you got a manual it's the clutch.. I remeber when i blew the cluch out on my wrangler.. it smelled like rotten eggs for a week.. (thats the sulfur in the cluch plating) Every now and then my 02 (dak) will really smell like rotten eggs, mainly after a bad shift, or me doing something stupid... I have a 3.9 RC 5-Speed..

Message: I've found a bad cat by taking temp readings before and after. Hot before and cool tailpipe.
