Subject: 3.5 rear to 3.95's would it help? IP: Logged
Message: i have a 3.9 5 speed with 3 inch body and 33x12.50 ssr's but i have those 3.5 gears. would the 3.95 gears help with gas milage? or would it help for take off. or should i go 4.10's and call it done in case i want to put the 6 inch lift with 35's later down the road.

Message: From what I've read going to the 4.10's helped some with gas mileage. Depends on your driving habits and in your case if your thinking about running 35's I think the 4.10's would be a must. The 3.92's would probably be pretty good with the 33's but 35's are gonna kill the V6. I refuse to get some 33's til I regear. Probably going with the 4.10's. This is just my opinion though.

Message: thanks for the feedback. i have mostly highway miles. the coast guard has me running everywhere. i want to get the 6 inch lift and put 35 boggers. so ur right i should regear to the 4.10. and if get the 318 engine swap she'll be even nastier. -shappi USCG

Message: 33 are as big as I would go with 1/2 ton axles. 1/2 ton axles are not really meant for 35 inch tires or bigger.
