Subject: Brake Pad Question IP: Logged
Message: I have a 2004 dakota SXT. The front rotors warped at 20,000. I replaced them with standard replacements from Advanced Auto Parts and bought the cheapest brake pads they sold. I'm currently at 40,000, and am wanting to change pads to ceramic pads. The squealing is driving me crazy. In the 20,000 miles that I've had them on, I've taken them apart twice used grease once and another brake quiet product on the backs, however they still scream. They only scream at a certain braking pressure though!?!? I was wondering if I should switch to ceramic, and in doing so, would I need to have the rotors turned?

Message: Save yourself the trouble and but the OEM pads. they cost a ton more but are much better (IMO) than any aftermarket pad

Message: I got a pair of Ferro-Carbon pads from Hawk Performance for my '91 no way in hell the OE pads stop as good these babys, they have yet to be fully broken in but the truck stops on a dime now. I'd highly recomend them they'll set ya back about 80-90$ on SummitRacing.com and as squealing seems to be your main problem mine have been dead quiet thou I'm easy on my brakes unless I'm pushing it hard but I compression brake pretty often

Message: i agree with Kenkura
i have the Ferro-carbon pads (except mine came "free" with the purchase of SSBC rotors) from truckperformance.com
The pads and the brakes are amazing, i just wish they didn't have as much brake dust. They claim to have less dust, but they seem to have just as much as my oem ones (and it is easier to tell with my chrome rims)
oh, they are quiet, and smooth (absolutly no vibration feel at all)
