Subject: Oil pressure gage. IP: Logged
Message: Well, I just changed the oil breather on my truck. The breather that goes from the valve cover to the intake breather. The original one was very dirty and very clogged up. Ok, so now I do not hold as good of oil pressure at idle than I used to. I used to hold about 40psi and when I started giving gas it would go up to about 75psi. Now it will stay at 75psi if I am going, but if I let it idle will go down to about 20psi and maybe go up to about 30psi. What could be causing this?

Message: did you replace the grommet too? Those get old and brittle. Does the breather fit snug in the valve cover?
Why did you change the breather? Just because it was time or did you have other issues before?

Message: when doubting the oil pressure gage always check it by using a mechanical gage to rule out a faulty sensor, gage or electrical connection.

Message: Come to think of it, it kindof has a little bit of slack on that breather. It is probably releasing some of the oil out. See, I lost some oil. And I know for sure that the motor does not use any oil.
