Message: Ok, so i got my 93 dakota 3.9L v6 LE like a month ago, i've put 1400 problem free miles onto it, but this afternoon, i brought it home from school went inside and came out to go to work, and it started up by then the idle fell straight down to 0 rpm's(not running). if i keep my foot on the gas it continues running, but the minute i let go it shuts off, we think it could possibly be a vacuum leak, not sure though, if anyone knows what could be wrong, or knows a solution, if u could let me know, thanks

Message: If opening up the throttle keeps it running, then I'd suspect one of two things. Either a vacuum regulated fuel regulator, or the Throttle position sensor.
Elaborate on the problem a bit more as far as the circumstances and we can nail this down closer to the problem/ give you better advice.
Did/does this happen with the engine cold, warm or it doesn't matter?

Message: It sounds like the idle air controller on the back of the throttle body needs cleaned. It the round black thing that is connected to back side of the throttle body next to the fire wall. The shaft and opening on the throllte body where this sensor connects can carbon and stick. It needs cleaned with carb cleaner, just be careful with the IAC shaft. after cleaning the truck should normally unless something else is a miss.
92 and 97 Daks both with many mods.

Message: ok, the problem occurs more when the engine has been running for a while, so it happens when its hot, then every so often it will do it after its been cooling down for a while, and then it also starts right up sometimes

Message: There is no vac regulator
Clean the IAC it could also be a bad throttle
position sensor
key on engine off center wire and ground drivers
side of body
range
.3 to .8 closed
what ever it is it must must return to exact low
volt setting if .5 it must always repeat .5
digital volt meter
if it reads low wont idle
reading high it will idle high
it must repeat 100% or its bad

Message: There is a way to check the idle air control
Find a safe place to do this
roll along in drive like 10 15mph
now pop it into nutral don't hit reverse
don't touch the gas
let it roll free and the motor should run around
1200rpm untill the vehicle comes to a stop than
idle down
this will tell you if the IAC is working do it
a few times
