Message: Is there a trans shift kit out that will up the shift points on my 2000 3.9 auto? I find that when I just get into it, not quite full throttle, that it shifts out too soon. The power just starts coming on around 3000 and it shifts out. Does Trans-Go make anything for the Dakota? At full throttle it shifts out around 4800 rpm also. I have adjusted the TV cable to its max point.

Message: Heres what we do
transmissionpartsusa.com
get the sonax replacement TV valve plunger and
sleave around $30
what happens is the sleave and plunger wear and
leak this will give you a slow rise in shift
points
now use the origanal spring with 2 shim washers
you can instal them on either side of the spring
light throttle around 2000rpm
1/4 around 3000
1/2 around 3500
3/4 arpund 4000
full it will still shift around 46 4800
if you want to go behond that than you will need
to grind off some material from the TV valve
spring side thiis will alow you to raise the shift
points even more without bottoming the valve
it gives you more travel this is what transgo
does they also change the spring but the spring
that comes in the kit is to stiff and it will
raise the points and will bounce off the rev
limiter this you do not want
also on your RE mesure from the spring seat to
valve body set at 1 1/4 presure adjust its
the only one you will find with an allen head
adjustment on drivers side of body
If you want firmer shifts get the TransGo
TFOD 518 around $110 along with the new valve
and install the kit cusion blocker in front servo
the rear servo you can change the spring and add
the blocker but its not nessasary only needed if
you plan to shift 1-2 manualy in this case not
changing the spring will give you a small amount
of overlap
you will need to lower the body to change the TV
valve just use a close hanger from corner to
corner to hold the body let it drop about 6" is
all you need to do the work
on the A500 in order to change the rear servo
spring and add the cusion blocker you will need
to remove the bolts and move the rear o/d
section back just enough to remove the servo arm
pin that is why most skip this part of the
kit instalation
