Subject: Got my baby back IP: Logged
Message: After messing up the manifold studs and taking my 94 to the shop, I got her back in A1 shape.
They had to remove the heads to get out the studs and easy-outs. So they machined the heads too.
Whole job cost $862 which I thought was a good price.
If it is not good, don't tell me.
This all started with me wanting to install 1992 ceramic coated manifolds. So now those manifolds are installed, and a new y-pipe was made for $125.
I am now officially done with mods.
Well, I have some new shocks on the way. So after that I am done. Can't afford to do any more.

Message: For a shop to do that, I can't say you paid a bad price. Usually Head work ( especially 2 of them ) will set you back a good grand or better depending on the problem with the head.
I'll be going through a similar scenario, except I plan on doing the grunt work myself, just send the heads to a shop to repair/replace the manifold bolts.

Message: Yes, they did both heads.
I usually do the grunt work too. But I had so much trouble and got so frustrated I had to concede.
I have to put the engine back the way I had it.
I'm real particular.
Things like routing the plug wires, my way.
Using cable ties.
And I want to put it on ramps and check the new y-pipe and cat.
So, I get back with some feedback tomorrow.

Message: I don't drive much, so it takes awhile to get MPG results.
Although I'm thinking about driving to see my mother in Texas. It is 1200 miles one way.
But everytime I think I'm ready to go, something needs fixing on the Dak. Or gas goes up again. Or the weather changes to 100 degress...

Message: I have the 92 manifolds, a new Magnaflow Cat, and new y-pipe. With an older Magnaflow 50 Delta.
It is much louder, and throaty.
Not sure I like the louder part.
I think I lost some low end. But it purrs at 70.
Don't have any MPG yet.
Considering the expense, I don't think it was worth it. Only if it improves gas mileage.
