Message: So...I've been looking at a 1999 Dakota - V6 3.9L, 5 spd, 4x4 & all that sh1t. I really like the truck, but I'm curious to know how great it is on gas & overall performance. Right now I drive a 1998 Grand Prix GT, and I get about 25 mpg. I realize the truck's going to be worse than that on gas, but by how much? I need something 4x4 to get back and forth from college (they say winters are pretty rough where I'm going) - is Dakota the way to go or can I do better?

Message: I owned a 95 3.9, 5spd 4x4. I loved that little truck. Put some sand bags, or tires in the back, and you'll be golden on those snowy roads. If the price is right, it's definitely worth looking into. I believe I got just under 20mpg, with upgraded exhaust.
