Message: That is a damn good question. I'd like to do the same thing...Contemplating supercharger or engine... I really just want to get a new engine but I dont have the time to do it myself or the money for someone else to do it...on the other hand I would love to pick up a Supercharger somewhere and try that out.

Message: Have you thought about trying to adapt GM's Eaton supercharger?
Every once in awhile I see a B&M supercharger and intake manifold for sale and they go pretty cheap.

Message: It's the same supercharger for the 3.9 and 5.2. The difference is a shorter intake and a few other mods, if you swap motors later, you may need a few new parts for the blower to work.

Message: How much do you think it would cost for installation of a supercharger? I know I am not mechanicaly inclined enough to install one myself.

Message: It's about a 6 hour install, most shops around $60-70 an hour, so figure around $400, could be more though.
As for the modifications to it, the only one I can think of is the intake needs to be shortened. I know there is a few others.
It is gonna be cheaper and more powerful to get a custum turbo built for the truck instead, so try that, any custom shop should be able to do that for you.

Message: You are dreaming if you think someone can do a good job, installing a supercharger, for $400. You'll pay that much or more just for a decent tune. A lot is going to depend on the make and model but I would think that you would be looking at $1000 minimum installed and tuned.

Message: You might get by with a 4-500 dollar install on something like a Powerdyne where it's just bolt-n-go. Almost anyone that can follow simple directions can install them. When get to the point that you need to have an intercooler installed and you need a FMU the price is going to jump. Throw in some time on the dyno and you are well over $1000.
