Subject: Hall Effect Pick-Up Ass. IP: Logged
Message: Okay. Having trouble starting Dakota. I have an 89, V6. Its got some miles on it so I went ahead and used the advice to replace my stuff in the distributor. That being said, while taking off the Hall Effect Pick-Up Assembly I looked at this weird funny looking piece right below it. It is a metal piece with I think five prongs sticking up in order for the Pick Up Assembly to work. However, I took the five prong thing off and put it back on not really paying attention to its original position. ( the way I took it off ) Now the thing won't start and I getting codes 12 and 11 and 55. I think 12 is battery taking off, 11 is Pick Up Assembly, and 55 is end of codes. Please help on the part with the five prong metal piece. I looked it up and they call it a "interrruptor," but give no help to what it does or how to put it back on. I know my car is old (gen 1) but some input would very welcome here. I don't have a back up vehicle. Thanks in advance.

Message: lol. I found out that the ignition interruptor isn't suppose to do that.... Had to order a new distributor, that should fix it. Thanks.
