Message: I'll post this since I seriously think it is the best mod anybody can do. Cheap and it will save you hundreds if not thousands. It's actually given me 1000000x horsepower (by not wreckign my truck about 100 times).
Put a ball hitch on your truck. I've been rear-ended 3 times in the past 2 years and each time I walk away unscaythed. Their cars bumper usually falls half way off or I put a nice crease in it. It also helps when somebody parallel parks too close to you, just nudge them a bit if you have to. I also use it for backing into spaces with walls/guard rails. When the hitch hits the wall, I know I'm all the way back.
I like this mod even more than my swapped engine.

Message: I agree with you there. I traded in my 1995 CC dak for an 02 QC dak. There is a big size difference between the two. I noticed that people stopped closer to me in the new truck at stop lights and in parking lots than in my old truck. I took my hitch brake light out (dodge logo that my wife bought me some years ago) and put my drawbar/ball in.
I guess because it sits higher people under estimate the distance and park closer to me. On many occasions I've saw people parked right up against me.
I suggest a locking pin so noone steals your drawbar.
I'm waiting for the day someone rear ends me and knocks a hole in their radiator.

Message: I've never looked at it like that before...
Been considering a hitch now that with my new job I'm gonna be backing trailers a lot (large John Deere tractors with the mower/bushhog hooked up) and won't be so nervous about taking our jetskis out on my own.
Now I'll make sure and get a hitch put on sooner...lol

Message: I must agree!!! A few years ago some friends and I were comming home from a nice day of hiking. While driving through Blacksburg, VA I was the lead truck in a 3 car pile-up. A Honda Civic rear-ended me and was shoved further under my truck by a Nissan Maxima. Due to the hitch on my truck my bumper looked like a "V" and I was able to drive off of the Honda when asked to by the police officer. With out the hitch its hard to tell what would have happened. My passenger and I walked away unharmed.

Message: I to have been hit from behind. I did not have my ball hitch on at the time but the reciver still helped out alot. You could see the square spot on the hood of his car and how it push the hood up and out of the way to get the radiator on his car and knock a hole it that.

Message: Yea, I figured you guys would like that. I mean I can't see any drawbacks to it. The chrome of the ball matches the truck pretty nice and if you ever have to pull somebody out of the snow or mud it's good to have. There's been a couple times I've had to back my truck up and move stuff on random occasions.
With people paying less attention nowadays because of cell phones, it makes sense to have a little buffer there for you.

Message: Got to get serious here guys lol . Slide an extended hitch into the reciever. No question that thing will take radiators out. Put the hitch on up side down. reverce the ball so it is up. That way you don't get blamed for doing it intentional And it should go over most all other bumpers
So many problems .... So little time

Message: I got rear ended only 1 BLOCK away from the dealership after buying my Dak! Totally wrecked the front end of the car behind me. Taco'ed my bumper, but nothing else. Insurance gave me $700, repair place wanted $425 for the bumper and more to paint it. Bought the bumper from the exact same place the repair place gets them for $280 plus tax and put it on myself. The standard black inserts almost match the color of my truck and I got to pocket the rest of the $$.
