The symptoms are:
- Chriping or metallic clanking from the exhaust while accelerating from a stop
- Fast chirping or whistling from the exhaust when driving around 35 mph and just maintaining speed or slightly decelerating
- Vibration that is subtle up to about 35 mph. At 70 MPH, if I really lay into the gas without forcing it to change gears, it will vibrate so violently that it rattles the dashboard. Vibration is decreased by maintaining a constant speed. (That means that it is engine related.)
- Absolutely no missing.
- Throttle response is excellent.
- At idle, it sounds perfect.
- No error codes
- Five cylinders have 125 psi (dry) and the sixth is 90 psi dry. When I had some oil to the sixth, it comes up to 125 psi. It has been this way for 50,000 miles, so I don't think that it is related.

as far as the exhaust sound, it might be a baffle inside the muffler that has come loose and is banging around and trying to plugg it up and making the whistling. the vibrations could be from a loose or broken motor mount or tranny mount. i've had all these problems with other trucks i've owned.

It is definately related to engine speed. If I increase the engine speed without increasing the speed of the truck (downshifting) the noise follows the engine speed.

I just put another new muffler on it. It sounds the same way.

Does your truck have a heat riser valve? I am not sure if your year of truck has one. My 1988 does and it was making the sound you describe so I wired it open with some stiff wire. The heat riser valve is located on the drivers side after the exhaust manifold but before the exhaust pipe. The heat riser is used to put warm exhaust to the throtle body when it is the engine is cold. As for your vibration thats a mystery. Is your truck a standard? I still think it is drive line or tire balance related.

Have you tried some injector cleaner lately ?
One or more injectors may be performing poorly
especially at high flow requirements ??
