Subject: Distributor gear IP: Logged
Message: O.K. I think my 92 V6 Dakota most likely has a worn out distributor gear and bushing. I replaced the distributor but the rotor still moves a lot. I searched 100 posts for "distributor gear" and cannot find directions on how to swap the gear and bushing out out. Any help?
Thanks,
Milton
Also, how serious are hairline cracks in the crank position sensor body?

Message: replace the crank position sensor. Its the plastic one like I had...I took the bolt out and it fell in two pieces. as far as the distributor goes, just check on how much it would cost you to buy a new one as a unit from your local parts store.

Message: I have already changed the distributor. The gear and bushing I am talking about are on the intermediate shaft between the distributor and the oil pump. On these engines the distributor does not have a gear direcly attached to it. Oh this is a 3.9L BTW.
Thanks,
Milton
