Subject: Larry, timing chain, cam timing IP: Logged
Message: Larry, or someone who has done this before, on Larry's "timing chain and tensioner" article, I am wondering about the 1-5 degree offset keys. Larry writes, "Stock cams start to open @ 8 degrees before TDC, and closes @ 56 before bottom center, or 124 degrees after top at 0 lift". "If they are off, you need to advance or retard the cam". I was wondering if the 8 BTDC, 56 BBDC setting is just the standard stock setting from Dodge, or is this the way Larry shows us "how to degree your cam in for Max Performance"? as he mentions in the intro. to the article. I have a '98 4X4 V6 and I want to be a bit "better" than stock. Thanks guys.
Relf.
