I have a 2002 dak sport. are the bearings in the front wheels sealed or can they be repacked? I have 46k on my truck but am having a grinding sensation when pulling out straight and pulling out into right turns. does not do it all the time and haven't heard it yet when pulling out left. someone had mentioned tranny mounts or maybe motor mounts or u-joints in drive shaft. there is no play in the bearings and they rotate freely, just thought maybe i would service them to ease my mind. I'm wondering if maybe my emergency brake cable is sticking and causing the shoes in the back to hang up. If i do the bearings will i need new seals when putting bearings back into the hub? if anyone has experienced this grinding or has any idea what it could be I would appreciate it. thanks

2wd bearings are sealed and not serviceable. don't know about 4wd and you didn't specify.

I have 2wd. I guess i'm not going to be regreasing then. As far as ball joints, uppers were already replaced and I think they need to be done again. When i back up from dead stop and have the steering wheel turned left to the stop I get a loud clunk when i put the brakes on to stop and it is coming from the right front. Dodge said absolutely nothing wrong with ball joints but yet wouldn't put it up on the rack to check alignment. I hate the dealer!!

jack up your truck and with the tire still on try to push/pull wheel towards you and away from you. That should show you ball joint play.

Are your bearings rubbing or something to make you want to repack them? If so, no need to buy the whole hub assembly. Pull the bearing numbers, buy from local parts store, and bring hub to a shop with a press.

I just keep getting this grinding feeling which seems to be coming from the right front only when pulling out from dead stop and mostly noticeable when turning right. There is no play in the bearing. have to check my u-joints and mounts yet though.
