Message: Decided to be nice to all you guys that are curious about what an original Flowmaster 40 Series sounds like on our 3.9L Daks. Was out on a walk yesterday taking pics and figured since I got the cam on me I might as well get this done...

That's outside....camera was positioned about 5 feet from the truck. Revved it up a little bout...ran it steady at around 3000 RPMs for a moment and then finally revved it to 4500 RPMs and let it go back to idle. The camera doesn't pic up the lower tones real well...but be aware that I have set multiple car alarms off just driving past the cars parked on the side of the road.

That's inside with the windows up. I ended up running it up to 105mph since the road was nice and empty clear up to the stop sign for a change (state highway). Notice it wasn't steadily up to 105...that was where I decided to do it. lol
Speedo shows 100-101...but it hasn't been calibrated since I got my new tires.
If you aren't able to view em due to slow connections or something let me know...I also have mp3 versions I can email.
The outside one is around 800kb and the inside one is around 1.6mb.

Message: that sounds pretty good! nice and deep @ idle too...
Looks like you need a LOT of road to get your kota past 100 :-P
Seriously though.. it sounds pretty good.. way better then the ratty glass pack I had on my 3.9L...

Message: lol...if I'd have kept on the gas the entire time it'd have hit 100mph a lot faster, but since I let off at 70mph and it went into overdrive, it doesn't accelerate nearly as fast anymore, even when it downshifts. Just kinda bogs and accelerates super slowly.
But yeah...for a V6 I think it sounds pretty good. Still wish I had a V8 though. lol
You should have seen the first video I tried to make with the camera sitting on my dash...it lasted about 5 seconds before it slid over to the passenger side and fell off. Would have made ya'll go on quite a ride while watching the it. =P

Message: my 3.9L did the same thing... it would do a little better if I just kept on the gas, as opposed to punching it at speed.... I thought it was just my truck's own quirk (or something to do with the JET chip I had).. it must be something in the stock programming...
what do you tach at 60? I noticed that you were around 2 grand at 70 or so.. and judging on the gears you shifted through, you had O/D on...

Message: Sounds very similar to mine, same exhaust, but I think I have bit more power overall which seems to make it a bit louder. Have you been able to get it past that 105 mark? I had my speedo spinning in circles a few times, it does that after passing the 125 the gauge maxes out on.
Love the sound, thanks for makeing the video so I can stop trying to explain it when people ask.

Message: Yeah Another Mark...I always thought yours sounded really good. That's what inspired me to go with a Flowmaster. Dynomax was just too quiet for me and I'd always heard too many mixed reviews about the sound of glasspacks.
JFH,
I've gotten mine up to 115mph on a slight decline...110mph flat. Fastest I could ever get it. With the Dueler tires I usually can only hit around 105mph. It gets kinda shaky depending on the wind direction so it doesn't see super high speeds much these days.
Oh yeah...btw...my exhaust setup for those who want the finer details. Flowmaster 40 series, single 2 1/2" in, single 2 1/2" out with a 3 1/2" turndown immediately after the muffler.

Message: I just cut mine off before the muffler and it sounds incredible. I work at an exhaust shop, so I'm just gonna run two pipes off the cats out the back. I highly recommend the cat-only setup.
