Subject: single or dual exaust? IP: Logged
Message: I have a 3.9 and I am geting jba headers, high flow or fre flow cat and exaust but i dont know whether i want duals or not. Which one will sound more throuty? I am thinking single will because its headers going into one pipe instead of going from 2 to 1 to 2 again. what size is good too? Thanks a lot

Message: I've got a 3.9 and the JBA headers and a hi flow cat. When you say duals do you mean true dual exhaust? Or just two pipes coming off your muffler? True dual exhuast will KILL your performance severely not to mention it will sound something like flying in a helicopter. Two tips off a muffler is no big deal but if you are not supercharging don't exceed 2 1/4" on each pipe on the muffler. You need the back pressure to a point. You'll lose torque and you will feel it if you go to big. You can get it to sound like a louder V6 but you will NOT get it sounding like an 8. God knows I've tried. Personally I'd stick with a single exhaust, it works the best for our wimpy 6ers.
I hope that helps, I hate seeing someone make the same mistakes I've made. Not to mention blowing your cash.
