Subject: Good tires?

I need to get rid of these all terrains that are on the truck and get some decent street tires, i almost lost to a Honda ricer because i couldn't get traction in 1st gear. What do you guys recommend? I want something that will give good traction for street racing but can run in the rain on the highway as well.

I got my traction bars on, no more wheel hop, i just need something sticky now.

i went with Bridgestone Dueler HPs (255/70R15), they're sport truck tires but have really high wet traction ratings, and even a decent snow traction rating. i love em, kinda pricy but worth it, i got em for about $100 per tire from Firestone. check em out, u wont be disappointed.

I just bought a set of Pirelli Scorpion Zeros
255/65/15 for $102 delivered from www.tire.com
(discount tire direct) they are rated at 420 tread wear ,AA traction ,and A temprature. Made a definite difference in traction and exceptionally good on wet roads.

Hello all. I have to ask a q. about my girls car. She has a 92 Chevy Z24 ( I have a 91 Dak) Any hoo she bought 4 new tire from fire stone. They same size as the ones that came off. (205/60/r15) The problem is the very same day she was driving the car and some times when she hit bump you will here a noise and feel it too... I do most of the work on her car and my truck but I am far from a expert. To me it feels like the tire is hitting the the wheel well. Even more SO when we are both in the car. She had struts put in a few weeks ago ...It is mostley in the rear drivers side but she says It is the fron drivers side as well ( I have not heard it yet) She did bring it back and the guy took it out came back and said he didn't here it. So she went for another drive with him and then they herd and felt it again. He said it is the sespention. Not the tires or shocks. To me the shocks are part of the suspention??? Maybe tech. the socks are not part of the suspention.. He said if it is still doing it on monday he will order 195 insteed of the 205. But isn't that just the width of the tires???That is not the problem it is the hight of the tire I think that is the 60 in 205/60/R15 . I don't understand why it would do this if they are the same size tires.. Any idears????? If she was to get low profiles I guss That is what they are called would that affect how the car handles Becouse believe it or not the car handle pretty tight and is pretty quick for a little 3.1L V6. I mean I love my dak But my girl loves here car She put alot of money in to it.Any hoo any idaers of what this might be...

The 195 does indicate the hight of the tire. 60 is the width. Its possible the tires are hitting the wheel well going over bumps. Try the 195's, and see what happens.

Simpleman96,
you got that backwards...195 is the width in mm and the 60 is an aspect ratio of the height

yup, intensedak39 is right, the first number (195 or 205 etc) is the width of the tire in millimeters, the 60 is the aspect ratio, meaning that the sidewall of the tire is 60% as tall as the tire is wide, in this case 60% of 205mm.

Lets say you have a 200/50/15 50% of the sidewall is the width of the sidewall if that doesnt help 100 mm sidewall height to 200mm width

right, the sidewall of a 200/50R15 tire would be 100mm tall

Maybe my girl just needs new shocks i don't know. The right size for a 1991 Chevy Z24 3.1L V6 is 205/60R15 and that is the size she has on there but like I said they never rubbed before when she went over a bump.
