The guy at the dealer said.....


that that "thing" I have is great for the track
but not for everyday driving and is most likely what caused my truck all these coolant problems.

I told him that it tricks the pcm into thinking
its 35 degrees out so it will run better by steping up the ratios.

He said that it was fine, but not for everyday driving because since my pcm thought it was colder out, it didn't use/allow as much coolant or didn't need to cool the engine as much.

I dont know what to belive

now you know thats..................

The coolant useage is NOT controlled electronically...it's controlled by the thermostat and waterpump. If the t'stat is either bad, sticking, missing, or the waterpump is bad...you'll have cooling problems.

An engine heats up regardless of what electronics are on the PCM. You can disconnect the Coolant Temp Sensor and/or the IAT sensor and you'll have two things happen:

(1) Disconnected IAT = -40 degree reading by the PCM - Check engine light - Engine still heats up to the same temp that the t'stat allows.
(2) Disconnect CTS = -40 degree reading by the PCM - Check Engine Light - Engine still heats up to the same temp that the t'stat allows.

If you want, have that dealer call me. (He's 100% full of it.)

Sounds to me like dealers like to pass the buck on everything.

Customer: The front tire blew out and I couldn't keep it strait, it caused me to hit the tree. Those tires you sold me were defective. I want you to pay for all the damage to my truck.

Dealer: No, the sticker that you put on the side or your truck caused wind drag and that is what caused the pull. The tire blowing is not conected to you hitting the tree at all. All I can do is replace you tire.

Customer: I replaced my V6 badge with a V8 badge. How could that cause wind drag?!?

Dealer: Those Dakotas are so presison honed that you can't do anything to the body without effecting the airodinamics.
