Subject: Thermostat IP: Logged
Message: what is the degree's Thermostat they put in a stock 2003 dakota 3.9L I heard if I put a 180 Degree would make the computer think there is cooler air comimg in so there for the engine runs cooler which allows more Hp something like that is that true?

Message: You got how it works mixed up with another mod, but yes, a 180*F will give you a lil more power. It doesn't trick your computer into thinking anything though. It just makes your engine run cooler. Stock thermostat is a 195*F and even DC has admitted that our engines run best at around 182*F I think and the reason they put 195*F thermos on is for emissions purposes. Just as a forewarning...your gas mileage may drop a lil if you switch to a 180. Mine did anyway.

Message: Hmmm...you might...not sure. I don't have inspections here so I've never worried about it.
