I put on a cherry bomb from Advanced Auto, only cost me $20 bucks and some freebie pipe pieces from the local garage to cobble together the tailpipe.
Sounds great, good mod for anyone on a budget.

Did notice that after the install there is a very low "whining" or "Wuring" that sounds like it's coming from under the truck. Almost sounds like an elctric pump or something.
Anyone?

Prolly the fuel pump and you're just now noticing on it since you're focusing on the differences in sound...

i took the muffler off of mine and it sounds just like a straight pipe, now dont get me wrong i have the straight pipe ready to put on.. but now im thinking about the cherry bomb so which one should i do also?

GB, hoping your right, but w/ a louder exhaust note, why wouldn't I have heard it more clearly before the install???
Hoping maybe the new exhaust is going to be picked up by the comp. and maybe (pipe dream) the noise will go away.

It's just a guess...but I know I never paid attention to mine til I got the new exhaust put on (Flowmaster 40 series with a turndown off the muffler). It's much louder than stock, but until I was really paying attention to the new sound of the Dak, I never realized how loud the fuel pump was.

I might have found the problem, I just have to wait to get under the truck due to all the snow I got this week.
Anyway, I think I mighta missed a spot when welding the CB in. I think the noise is a wistle from a hold in a seam.

when i start to speed up in 3rd i start to hear the
whistling...is anoying.how do i stop.also i think im
starting to notice a decrease in accel.anybody else
notice this problem or is my cb just a piece of.....

i have an '01 dak with a 22 gal fuel tank. my fuel pump is so loud i had it checked at the dealership. the more fuel you have the quieter it will be sinse the pump is in the fuel tank. i am used to driving 4cyl compacts so i am still getting used to the sounds of 4x4 trucks.
