Message: I was in one recently for Reflexxion cowl induction hoods... it's similar to ordering something in bulk. You buy more at one time, the manufacturer sells it for a cheaper price per unit.
So say 10 people get in on a group buy... the manufacturer (or the middleman) may be willing to sell them for $20+/- (depending on the item) cheaper than if you just bought it alone without anyone.

Message: If you got enough friends to suit the group buy that may very well work... tell the company you're a local truck club or something prolly (it'll look better than saying you and your friends). Not sure how many companies will go directly through them though...
The one I was involved in went through John Mercedes at Southeast R/T. He sells/sold Reflexxion CI hoods so he contacted the company and disussed it with them and then he just gave us the number of people we needed and the price. It's pretty difficult these days to get group buys going because a lot of businesses (acting as the middle man) aren't willing to set them up since if the deal falls through, it makes them look bad. Just curious, but what are you wanting to set up a group buy for?
