Subject: v8 throttlebody for v6 IP: Logged
Message: the title pretty much sums it up; can a throttlebody from the 5.9 or 5.2 fit on the 3.9 and would i have to customize anything on it?

Message: In a word, no. Though they look similar from the outside, they are actually very different and it's not possible to switch them.

Message: In several words "no" is wrong; and I suspect he is just pulling your leg. A v-8 throttle body onto a v-6 engine is one of the most basic fairly low cost mods being done. Do a search on this site and you'll see.

Message: The v8 tb will fit just fine. All you have to do is get a compatable throttle cable.
The only other problem with using a v8 tb is that it won't make it's rated flow because the limiting factor is the diameters of the v6 manifold ports.
Your v6 tb can easily be opened up to match the manifold.

Message: Yea but hes probably like me on why he wants a V8 TB is because he wants to get a cool air intake cause they dont make ones for a V6, atleast that ive seen. plus i can get better fuel lines and air intakes parts with the V8 thottle body compared to the V6. :-D

Message: I did it on my 2000 V6 Dakota I was really happy with the results. I also had SRI, Jet chip STG 2 and xhaust. Its been awhile since I owned the truck I think I had plugs wires and some other stuff 2. NE way it felt like it opened it up a lil.

Message: Now with the V8 TB you get more air, can you use the Injectors out of a 5.9 and get some (best tim allen grunt)more power??

Message: Yes it fits just fine. The V8 throttle blades are slightly bigger than the holes in the V6 manifold, but not as much to affect anything (you will see this once you mount it)
Everything else is the same, same sensors, locations for mounting the brackets, hieght, diameter, etc. They are identical other than the bore sizes. IMHO install a new IAC valve at the same time, its the valve in the back and they are delicate as hell and usually pretty crusty anyway.
I bought a batch of 4 V8 TB and found 2 of them had the same ball linkage as the stock V6 so I used one of those. It is a night and day difference above 2700 RPM. I think the ones from the jeep use the ball linkage.
Don't play any games trying to port the stock one either unless you have a flow bench and understand how the stock taper and step in the TB bore works.
Also get some Ford injectors, for my 97 I used the F0TZ, they have a 4 hole nozzle outlet vs the stock one hole of the Dodge, and they are matched closer, all are made by Bosch and fit the same demensions, plug clip, etc. Just do a search on this site for injectors and you will get the right part numbers as I think the 2002 and later were different.
After doing these I can't believe Ma Mopar didn't use both of these stock on this engine. Not only more power but I got better gas mileage too (about 1MPG)

Yes, all the idiots with V8's remove them in order to increase flow. You certainly wouldn't want to do that on a V6 tb.

You would get just as much improvement with a 5.2 tb

Which after market "pats" are you talking about?
As for the manifold, no, the v8 manifold with not fit.

Message: all the internal components like pistons, rods, and lifters are the same, the crank, cam, heads, intake and valve covers will not fit because they are an extra cyl long. as for accessories on the front of the motor, they are the same as the 3.9. yes the supercharger will bolt on, the intake systems, pretty much anything. does that sum it up?

Sure you can, but what makes you think that your engine can handle it?
