Message: Yes the noise you hear is normal.. its a ball bearing inside. If you had a pcv valve that didnt rattle it would be malfuctioning ;).

Message: hey,
what kinds of gains in mileage or driveablity can be seen from the pcv valve? i have never changed mine in my 93 and i think it is all orginal. after 132k it probably needs to be replaced but im wondering if it really does anything of value?

Message: If your PCV valve is making a rattling sound while the engine is idling I would say that is not normal. I would check vacumm at the valve and see if any positive pressure pulses are showing up.
