Subject: Crank sensor 93' IP: Logged
Message: about a month ago I took a look at my crank sensor to do the timing mod but I noticed something a little different then the pictures I've seen. Mine seems to be made of plastic and I was worried about slotting the holes, it seems like it would crack. Also, is there an easy way to get to the wiring connector, I couldn't reach it. Thanks guys

Message: I have a 93 too and I had the same problem. It is made of plastic and you can't slot it. What I did was buy a new crank sensor at auto zone for around 20 bucks and it has the metal mounting surface. You can slot this new one enough to get a little advance. I noticed a diff. with mine about 1 more mpg and a little more low end. I can't remember about the wiring connector--might of been a pain in the azz but it doesn't come off the sensor very far. Keep reachin and you'll get it.
How do you like the flowmaster on your '93? The muffler is probably the next thing I'm gonna upgrade.

Message: i love the flowmaster on my truck, until you hit about 3k it sounds like an 8. except above that the resonance in the cab seems a little ricey, but not bad, i like it alot. i also had to remove my cat because it was bad, it got a little louder from that and sounds even better. what else did you do to your truck?

Message: The Flowmaster is great on the '93. I have the Original 40 series with a turn down after the muffler, hi flow cat (better than not having one), and JBA Headers. Great exhaust setup for the '93

Message: Other than that crank sensor mod., I have done most of the simple things that everybody talks about on here. The V8 TB, the 180 t-stat, the 3923's and the iat and tps sensor tweaks. I haven't actually built a CAI but I did putin aK&N drop in to compliment the TB. This truck isn't really an everyday ride so I probably won't do much more other than maybe the muffler or maybe even the FMS injectors. Mine has over 170k miles now so all I really want to do is preserve the engine as long as I can...
