Subject: heater IP: Logged
Message: I have a 1999 dakota,v6. About a year ago the heat stopped working. Well soon after my stepson blew the motor. Well I had a new motor put in it in april, the heater still does not work. I replaced the thermostat, I'm no mechanic, I noticed that there was a wire where the hose connects to the block that had a loop at the end of it, like it is supposed to be connected to something but it was not. Well, the heat still does not work. The temp. gauge only goes up about a qtr. of the way, it used to go 1/2 way. If you lean over the front of the truck and look down, the wire is on the right side of the hose. It is 4 degrees, with a wind-chill of 10 below, I need heat! Please, somebody help me with this! Thank you very much.

Message: You could have 1 of 2 things wrong that i could think of. 1 it sounds like the Thermostat could be sticking. If the temp gauge only goes up about a qut of the way the engen is running cold. A termostat that is stuck open could cause that. I had a frend that had the temp gauge working fine but the heater was not putting our any or little heat (were in AK) and his problem was his heater core was stoped up, not alowing enough hot watter to heat up the air that went through. Being the temp gauge is doing what its doing i would check the thermostat first and work from there.
