Anyone have a good way to secure (lock down) the water pump pully before trying to crack the 36 mm nut on the fan/clutch assembly? The pully is pressed (not bolted) on, and there's not a lot of access room in front of the bolt holes. Thanx!

i grabbed mine from the side with a pair of vise grips. just enough to hold the pulley w/o smashing it.

I had luck with tighting up the belt with the idler arm and breaking the nut loose.

Thanx, guys... Found a tool at NAPA that will grab a couple studs or bolts inserted through the holes in the pulley. P.S. I can spell pulley, I just can't type! Great site. I'll join and be back after I GoJo the paws!

Thanx re: right hand thread tip.... Fortunately, as the Sun was not over the yardarm yet, and I was working without benefit of my weekend beer ration, I had the odd idea to study the threads on the new pump before cranking the nut the wrong way. I'll come back later and post the NAPA part number for the tool.
