Great

These motors are very dependible and with good
maintainance last for ever

Have seen many with 250 300,000 and still running
strong.

With a few mods a decent little performer and very
economical

1995 4X4 22 to 25 mpg stock 92 motor with 120,000
miles, new timming chain and lifters is all that
was done uses no oil and starts in 30 below cold
and is fun to drive

I also have 2 stroked motors my first one did
14.4 @ 97mph 1/4 mile sanctioned Union Grove

My second will be going in this truck in the
spring and should drop into the 13's All Motor
no bottles or blowers

A fun engine to work with 318 - 2 cyl

I have bought 3 brand new and plan on another
all excellent and reliable runners

But I may be biast I have driven mopar all my life
live eat sleep and dream MOPAR 30 year business
owner and operater

All in all, is OK, not the best, not the worst. I have a '91 3.9 pre-mag 5-speed w/ 137,000 miles, bought it two years ago w/ 113,000 on the odo. Now in its second winter I'm starting to lose some antifreeze out of the front top of the block, head gasket or intake gasket, a few drips every day, annoying more than anything but its not in the oil yet. I suspect the drip will go away in the late spring/summer when its warm again. I get 15 city and 19-20 highway (70-75 mph) and I have a little timing chain rattle. Has plenty of power for just driving around (I still don't know what some of you 'Magnum' guys are complaining about at 175 hp, try 125 !!) but I wouldn't race anyone. Truthfully I'm a bigger fan of the inline six, give me a 4.9 L Ford inline six or the 4.0 L Jeep inline six, both of which I have owned. More torque at lower RPMs. The 3.9 is good at highway speed and the price of the truck was right. So far the truck has been easy to work on, its paid for and I'll probabally drive it till its dead.

Do you think a 92 3.9 will go into a 97

Well My last 2 trucks that I had were v6's and of course this one is too. This will be my last v6 that I buy. I mean comon its a v6 sure it does what it needs to but it does lack in power. I dont race or nuttin since my truck is set up for offroad. I thought buying the v6 would be nice on gas oops I was wrong hogs just is much gas a 4.7 v8. Does sound real nice with 40 series flowmasters, compared to any other v6 trucks ive seen. Been good to me so far will see how long she'll last only got 50k miles on her so far.

My '00 3.9 is more powerful than anything I had before it, but the excitement wore off pretty quick. I get jealous when I come up next to a V8 dak. The good thing is that it's not hard to wake it up a little with some minor mods. And it's great to suprise someone in a V8 with what you can get out of the V6.
